Mike was born and raised right here in Allegheny County. For much of his upbringing, Mike lived in West View Borough and attended public school at North Hills High School where he played baseball and was a member of the marching band. After graduating High School in 1992, Mike attended Allegheny College as an Alden Scholar where he received a bachelors degree in political science with a minor in communication arts. In 1996, Mike was accepted into the Duquesne University Kline School of Law where he was drawn to the study of criminal and constitutional law which later developed his passion for working to preserve people’s rights.

After graduating law school in 1999, Mike briefly served as a clerk for the Workers’ Compensation Office of Adjudication where he worked to ensure fair and equitable access to workers’ compensation benefits. In 2000, Mike was hired as an Assistant District Attorney in the Venango County District Attorney’s Office where he handled a wide variety of cases as one of only four prosecutors for the entirety of Venango County.
Mike spent two years in Venango County before moving back to Allegheny County as an Assistant District Attorney in the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office. After spending a brief time in the general trial unit, Mike transitioned to the Domestic Violence Unit where he worked tirelessly to bring justice to victims of domestic violence. He also served as a certified police trainer to improve police response to intimate partner violence. Although he was offered a promotion to different unit after a few years, Mike elected to stay in the Domestic Violence unit because he saw the immense value of the work he was doing as a domestic violence prosecutor. In 2016, Mike was promoted to Deputy District Attorney where he supervised, managed, and trained Assistant District Attorneys in the Domestic Violence Unit, Mental Health Court, Veterans Court, and DUI Court. In this role, Mike chaired the Domestic Violence Task Force and represented the DA’s office on the Intimate Partner Violence Reform Team where he worked with elected officials and community partners to improve practices and enhance response to intimate partner violence. As Deputy District Attorney, Mike was a charter member of the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys where he worked to set best practices for domestic violence responses nationwide.
In 2024, Mike left the District Attorney’s office to become a private practice defense attorney at Krolikowski Law in Pittsburgh. As a defense attorney, he works to ensure members of the community are given a fair shot in court. Mike continues to work on behalf of domestic violence victims seeking Protection From Abuse orders and offers pro bono services to victims of domestic violence who are charged with a crime and petitions for name changes. With his experience as both a prosecutor and defense attorney, Mike Sullivan will bring a unique, well-rounded perspective to the bench to ensure a fair, equitable, and honorable criminal justice process.
